Urodynamic testing is the measure of how well the lower urinary tract is functioning or how
well the bladder, urethra release the urine or how well they hold it. These tests can help
diagnose many conditions, such as:
- Incontinence.
- Frequent urge to urinate.
- Pain while urinating.
- Overactive bladder.
- Issues with starting/stopping the urine stream.
- Problems with emptying the bladder.
- Recurrent urinary tract infections.
Tests under urodynamics might include:
- Cystometry: A test that is done to measure the pressure inside the
bladder using a
catheter.
- Electromyography: This is done if the urinary issues are sensed to be
nerve related,
in that case the study of signals is done.
- Study of Pressure flow.
- Uroflometry: This test is done to measure the quantity and speed in
which you
urinate.
- Postvoid residual measurement: Measuring the amount of urine left in
the bladder
after urinating completely.
- Video urodynamic tests.
