Ureteroscopy Treatment in Guntur

Ureteroscopy is a non-invasive procedure performed by inserting a small tube into the urethra, all the way up the ureters to the bladder. A light and lens is attached at the end of the uteroscope which helps the surgeon visualise the insides of the ureters and bladder. If a stone is found, based on its size, needed action is taken. In case of a small stone, a small basket is used to scoop up the stone and is taken out, however in case of a large stone, the stone might need to be broken down with the help of a laser and the fragments are then allowed to pass freely through the ureter, out of the body. In the event of a large stone, a stent might be kept in the ureters to help free flow of fragments.

Ureteroscopy is recommended for:

  • Pregnant women.
  • Overweight people.
  • Issues with blood clots.

The risk of infection, bleeding and injury to the ureters is extremely low in this process. The ureter stent might be left in the ureters for a couple of days or weeks based on the discretion of the specialist.
